Ribbon of Silver
A half-day Theatre in Education programme for Years 1 & 2
It is Georgie’s first day at school. Always a trial no matter who you are. Takes your breath away. For Georgie it is even harder. He’s not like the other children and all eyes are on him. Where does he come from? That night he creeps out and curls up under the trailer with his dog, Splott. He can hear the deep sleep breathing of Mam, Maggie and Sean but still can’t catch his own. Sleep won’t come. Then he’s off, him and Splott on a journey of discovery through the country lanes of the past to the lay-bys and waste grounds of the present; a road that will maybe tell him who he is and more, how he can be tomorrow.
Ribbon of a Silver is a new half-day participatory Theatre in Education programme.
It is a story that invites young people to imagine themselves into the heart of being human. It celebrates diversity and difference and asks us to stand together alongside Georgie when it matters and where all our roads meet. This programme is a contribution recognising June 2008 marking the Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month and 2005/2015 being an international Decade of Roma Inclusion.
We will be touring two teams to schools simultaneously during the summer term.
